Dr. Nakia Simmons Cotton is a native of Tallahassee, Florida. She attended Florida A&M University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, a Master in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate from Clark Atlanta University.

Dr. Nakia has twenty-five years of education experience and she is passionate about equity and education for diverse learners. She has served in educator and leadership roles that support diverse populations, including students with disabilities and English Speakers of Other Languages. Dr. Nakia is the author of three self-published on Amazon titled the Essential Tips for Special Education Leaders, Parents of Students with Disabilities, and Section 504.
